The Frisco school board will conduct a one of a kind workshop on Monday to talk about high school attendance zone as the district gets ready to open Reedy High in August. The conference will take place at the district’s administration building, 5515 Ohio Drive and will start at noon. With the opening of Reedy, the municipality is trying to balance the enrollment at high schools. However officials admit that the mission is complicated mainly because Frisco intents to open four high schools in four years, means numerous changes.

This month’s conference was attended by hundreds of residents, most of them would like their families to live together at Wakeland High. They are against the supposed temporary zoning option, which will transfer some students in other areas out of Wakeland to the new Reedy for one or two years. However there are some students who would be transferred back to Wakeland, even those in the same family. For the time being, other families at Emerson Apartments were disappointed to know that they’re being transferred from Wakeland to Frisco High.

In other proposed changes, to help balance out enrollment in the northern area, officials would like to rezone families in Little Elm from Wakeland to Lone Star. Choices have been deliberated to help limit the effect on families however trustees mentioned that hard decisions will have to be made. Administrators are also regulating other elementary and middle school attendance zones. However the one of a kind conference will focus mainly on high school zoning.
